COURSE DESCRIPTION :This courses presents methods to identify vulnerabilities and take appropriate countermeasures to prevent and mitigate information failure risks for an organization. This course provides the networking professional with a foundation in disaster recovery principles, including preparation of a disaster recovery plan, assessment of risks in the enterprise, development of policies and procedures, an understanding of the roles and relationships of various members of an organization, implementation of the plan, testing and rehearsal of the plan, and actually recovering from a disaster.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
This course will give the student the knowledge and capabilities to survive a data disaster including different methods of disaster recovery, prevention, countermeasures in order to protect systems and data while under attack, and how to recover after an attack.
Upon completion, the student will:
- Possess a comprehensive overview of disaster recovery and countermeasures for an organization.
- Know how to break down disaster recovery planning into eight steps that can be applied to any organization.
- Know how to take an enterprise-wide approach to developing a disaster recovery plan.
- Learn how to create a secure network by putting policies and procedures in place, and how to restore a network in the event of a disaster.
- Develop skills as they learn about Policy Creation.
This course is composed of lectures, class discussions, demonstrations and hands-on assignments. Lectures will clarify, reinforce, and expand upon the readings from the text. Significant learning will be accomplished outside the normal class hours through computer assignments. These assignments will reinforce the lecture and demonstrations of course materials. Those willing to gain knowledge beyond the normal scope of the course will be given an opportunity to explore some advanced topics.INTEGRITY AND SCHOLARSHIP"Honesty in all academic work is expected of every student.
